History of Mentirosa:
The game of Mentirosa is
known in many countries, by many different names.
Similar dice
games have been known to be played as early as the Roman era.
It's ancestry comes from a close relative, Cubilete, a typical
game of Spain.
Mentirosa became widely played in Havana
and other parts of Cuba during the 19th and 20th centuries.
It is rumored that the game came about when the American GI's
in Guantanamo combined the American game, Liar's Poker, with
the cups and dice used to play Cubilete.
Arriving in South Florida with exiled Cubans in the 1950s,
its 21st century rebirth will give a new generation of players
the opportunity to enjoy this classic game the way it was meant
to be.
